Essay
Type a five paragraph essay in MLA format, answering the question. By far the most important aspect of the essay is textual support. You do not need to include in text citations or a works cited page, but you must specifically connect scenes/event from the text to the topic and demonstrate how the scenes/events support the points of your essay.
Topic
“Citing events from the play, describe and analyze the ways Willy Loman meets the definition of a modern tragic hero. Focus specifically on the following tragic elements:
1.) Willy’s Tragic Flaw (Identify, support, analyze)
2.) A reversal of fortune or negative turn of events brought on by Willy’s own actions (How does it happen, how does he cause it)
3.) The dramatic irony the audience feels toward Willy throughout the play (What they feel, why they feel it, ways Willy misses it)”
* Remember, Dramatic irony is when the words and actions of the characters of a story have a different meaning for the reader than the characters of the story. What does the reader see or realize about Willy that he does not realize about himself?
